At Santa’s Saws, we spend a lot of time thinking about how disaster cleanup is done, not just that it gets done.
For our initial deployments, we’re running Greenworks Commercial OPTIMUS H.O.G. battery chainsaws paired with DGP Pro100 bio‑based bar & chain oil. That choice was intentional.
The H.O.G. saws deliver 60cc to 80cc gas‑equivalent power in a battery platform. In real terms, that means:
- Production‑level cutting power
- Significantly less vibration and noise
- Built‑in safety systems and consistent performance
- No fuel mixing, no exhaust, fewer failure points
We’ll be fielding two 20” H.O.G. saws and one 28” H.O.G. saw, capable of processing everything from storm debris to large, old‑growth downed trees — without giving up performance compared to gas.
The bar oil matters just as much. DGP Pro100 is a performance‑first, bio‑based bar & chain oil developed with working arborists. It’s designed to lubricate better, manage heat more effectively, and reduce operator exposure — while also lowering environmental impact in neighborhoods we’re serving.
The easiest way to explain our thinking is this:
Using modern battery saws and advanced bio‑based bar oil instead of gas saws and petroleum oil is a lot like the difference between a cellphone and a smartphone.
The old way works.
The newer way simply does more things better at the same time.
For volunteers, that means safer, quieter, less fatiguing workdays.
For donors, it means smart investments in tools that increase productivity and reduce long‑term risk.
For the communities we serve, it means cleaner, more responsible recovery operations.
This isn’t about trends. It’s about doing the job better than it’s been done before — and building a response model that’s ready for the future.
